As a new year begins, it is important to look ahead at personal and business goals I would like to achieve. Goals are a wonderful way to keep focused on what’s important as well as keep you balanced between work, home and success. As this is a Real Estate blog, I will touch on my business goals, but know that my personal goals of family, health and happiness are always on my radar as well.
Customer Service is Priority #1 – A quality customer experience is the most important aspect of my business. I’m not only selling a home, I’m selling a new life to my buyer that will most definitely be different in at least one way, shape or form. If I do the bare minimum to “get the sale” my buyer will most likely feel uneasy and nervous throughout their entire buying process. However, if I’m there each step of the way and am in constant communication with them, they can spend less time worrying about, “Am I doing the right thing?” and thinking more about the, “I can’t wait to get to Charlotte!”
This blog is one way I’m trying to keep my buyer’s, as well as others informed of what is going on in Charlotte. I want to generate discussion and allow a place for folks to come and pose questions and get some answers as well.
I’m also starting a photo taking initiative for my clients who are building new homes in the area. Since most of my clients are out of state, they can’t visit their new home in progress as often as they’d really like to.
I’m taking a day each week and visiting all my client’s houses that are under construction. I will document progress with my camera and then return to the office to upload the pictures and send them along to my clients so they can see the progress.
After the house is complete and my clients have moved to Charlotte, I will be burning them a cd with all the pictures of the house. I’m hoping this will be a big success and a favorable reason for clients and future clients to use my services.
Continue building Relationships with Builders – In the land of real estate, often people see it as an “Us vs. Them” mentality when it comes to buying a home. However, one of the best things a Realtor can do is build on the relationships they have with builders and the sales reps at the model centers. The more everyone trusts each other, the smoother a transaction will go. A sales rep is more apt to keep everyone in the loop when they know they’re working with a reliable agent.
An Informed Customer is a Happy Customer - Throughout the building/buying process, keeping my client informed is essential. It seems like a no-brainer to say this, but there are a lot of agents out there who get the contract signed, and don’t talk to their customers until the week before closing. They rely on everything to fall into place and hope that nothing happens to disrupt the transaction.
Buying a house is like any other big purchase. Things have to line up correctly and steps have to be taken in order for the transaction to progress. Honestly, most transactions will hit a speedbump one way or another. Some are little, some are big, but either way, the client needs to know their agent is going to keep them informed.
I like to check in with clients, check in with the builder and check in on the house. You may not get a call from me every week, but it doesn’t mean I’m not out there making sure things are progressing.
In Summary – The above outlined steps/goals for the new year all add up to a positive customer service experience. It’s not hard to outline my main objective – keep the customer happy. Other agents might give you a long list of personal and business goals, but customer service should always be at the top. If I keep you happy, are you not more inclined to use my services in the future? Or refer your friends and family to me as well? My goal of keeping you happy benefits me as well. I stand to make a lot more money if I treat my customers right, rather than make the sale and cut all ties at the closing table…A Happy Customer = A Repeat Customer!
I look forward to assisting you in the future. Please let me know if you need any assistance in the purchase of your next home in the Charlotte, NC area. I’d be happy to talk with you further via phone or email.
Hopefully, I can help make one of your personal goals…”Buying a house in 2007″ a reality.
